Wedded Bliss

Today is our anniversary. Happy 3rd to us! Here's a photo from the big day . . .


Not much has changed since then. Okay, so maybe a few more pounds on both of us and one or two more gray hairs (we are in our 30s now!). But relatively all else is the same. We still like each other a lot, can make each other laugh (bodily "noises" are still amusing), and continue to be best friends. The past three years have sped by and I can barely remember life before Sean. I know it wasn't as quirky as life with Sean. I'm sure he feels the same about me! Looking forward to many more quirky, noise-filled years.

The Latest on the House

Here's the latest photo of the house. I had to show the back of it, because the front is still boring with no siding or cute little round window above the porch. That's apparently still on the "to do" list. We met with the electrician on Friday morning to do a walk-through and choose where we want outlets for electric, phone and cable. Who knew that would be something to think about! Tomorrow we choose our lighting. Fun! I think that will be the last of the decision-making process during construction. The rest comes later when we choose paint, furniture, window blinds, push lawn-mower, etc.

We checked in at the house tonight. Someone forgot to lock the doors, so we didn't need to borrow the neighbor kids to break us in. They hung insulation, caulked (is that how it's spelled?) and sprayed foam around everything, and finished the plumbing in the house and the siding on the garage, as you can see from the cheesy picture of us above.

We move in 2 months!

Update...

So here is the latest on our new home. Siding is going up, plumbing and electrical stuff is installed. Yesterday they put the front door in place. Now we have to ask one of the neighbors kids to put her little hand though the lock hole and break us in. Oh well, they fight over who gets to do it.Marci is enjoying her summer vacation. This begins her annual scrapbooking marathon, wherein our spare room turns into a vast array of papers, stamps, photographs and other forms of various media.

I am being kept busy at work and at church. Worship team takes up 2 weekends a month.

Favorite new band

This is a clip of my favorite new band - "organissimo" These guys are amazing. I have always loved the subtle sound of the Hammond B3 organ, which is the center of their sound. So I decided to post this for your listening enjoyment. This song is a classic remake of the Jazz standard "Tenderly." Perfect for when you need some music to chill, or are looking for a little romance and "ooh-la-la" Enjoy.

We've been framed....

Marci and I stopped by the new place today, and it appears that all the internal framing has now been completed. Our new neighbors are by this time, quite used to us poking around in the evening, after work. Although we don't really have any drywall up yet, there's something fun about standing in your new home and dreaming about paint color, tile, carpet, kitchen cabinets and shiny new appliances. Marci is faithfully documenting this whole process. Here I am, sitting on our recently installed staircase.


It wont be too long before we have to pack up everything and move.

Shiny new roof....

So our new house is coming along nicely. Watching it go up these past few days has been akin to watching an Amish barn raising, namely because 1: it is being built by Amish gentlemen, 2: It has gone from a basement in the ground to a house with a roof in 7 working days. Here is the latest photo:


Our garage is up as well. Ah, I cant wait - no more scraping ice off the car. Plenty of room for my new riding mower, now I just have to convince Marci that I neeeeeeeeeed one.


Of course, in the spirit of the Brotherhood of men, I will likely add some customization, just like this guy did. Enjoy.

Meheeco..

Last month, we took a five day trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The best part about the entire thing, besides the stunning weather, warm pool, and free pina coladas was that the whole trip was free!! Thats right, free. Did I mention it was free?

Our sales team at work won some sort of contest (I'm actually not to sure how we won it) and the prize was 5 days in Cabo. Highlights included a boat ride to "Los Arcos" - a huge arch out in the ocean, blowing glass, and a tasting of what is possibly the worlds most hideous tequila. We stayed at the "Melia Cabo Real" resort - translated, I think that means "come here and do nothing for 5 days" in Mexican. We had just a short walk to the beach, and spend a lot of time swimming from the edge of the pool to the swim up bar.

If you ever visit Cabo, be sure to attend "Cabo Wabo" - Ex Van Halen lead singer's club. Great place. Next stop on the tour has to be a small bar called "The Giggling Marlin." This is an, ahem interesting place to say the least. We'll just leave it at that.

Under Construction

After months . . . make that years . . . of flushing our money down the toilet in rent, we decided to pursue the American dream of thrusting ourselves into debt for another 30 years. Following months of searching (okay, we looked at only 6 houses), we came to the conclusion that destroying priceless farmland is the way to go. So we became the proud owners of some dirt.


Seven weeks later and daily surveillance of our barren lot by Sean, they finally dug a hole in the dirt. Since then, we've seen steady progress on what will some day be our new home. A foundation was laid, bricks were carefully put into place, and now framing has begun. We'll keep you posted on the progress. Sean continues to inspect daily . . .
